According to the most recent Ashland Housing Production Plan prepared by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, Ashland’s senior population is projected to double by 2030. Under Massachusetts state law, real estate developers can bypass local zoning By-Laws and regulations and build affordable housing, often-times leading to undesirable development projects that are not aligned with a town’s master plan, creating unwanted traffic, and a burden to local school systems. The Arbella at Ashland moves the Ashland community closer to its commitment to 10% affordable housing without the burdens that typical 40B multi-family housing development projects create.
